Famine of God's Word

In Him, I Live and Move and Have My Being

I have been reading in the Old Testament.

Study from Amos, one of the Minor Prophets.
He prophesied during a time of prosperity in Israel.

Interesting….ever notice … when things are going great in our lives, we tend to forget that we need the Lord. We tend to forget where all of those blessings came from.
This is when we lean to our own self sufficiency and let sin creep into our life.

And Yes, I have been there….done that….As, I am sure you have too.

At first I may not even notice…but after a while, I began to feel guilty…the Lord speaks to my conscience…I may push His voice aside. It gets a little easier after a while. Then, first thing I know, I have let Sin Separate me from the Lord.

I don’t hear His Voice any more. Don’t feel comfort in Bible Study.
He stops revealing things to me.
I find it difficult to pray.
After All, How can I lift up Un-Holy hands to a Holy God?

Thank the Lord, I can not live without Him in my life….so I become pretty miserable.

But it is only After I Repent of whatever sin has led me away..that
I can feel the Lord’s presence again.

I experience a Famine of Hearing God’s Words Until I Do.

Amos 8:11
“Behold the days are coming” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land.
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a famine for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.

They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east:
They shall run to and fro, seeking the
Word of the Lord,
But shall not find it”

I have read the Bible many times and studied…but I do not remember this verse.
It really touched my heart.
It is interesting how God reveals to us at just the right time.

I feel I am approaching sin in my life. This time God has warned me ahead of time. He Will Send Famine.

Know The Vocie Of The Lord

Hear and Recognize the Voice Of The Lord

Several years ago, I was re-introduced to a man whom I had not seen in many years…. I mentioned that I had actually met him many years before, and he said “I remember your Voice”.
I, of course thought that was just a Good LINE.

A few days ago I called someone whom I had not talked to in about a year,
He said “Hello” and I said “Hello Paul”…..and he immediately said
“Hello Kay”
I was totally surprised that he remembered and recognized my Voice.

I need to mention here…that Voices are very important to me. It would be hard for me to be with someone if I did not like their voice.

Today I am studying: Knowing and Recognizing the Voice of God.

John 10:1-5
10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
{There is No Other Way Except through the Good Shepherd, Christ, Our Lord.}
10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep
10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
This is interesting…….We often want to know How We Can Recognize the Voice Of The Lord.
It is…. Because We Hear It Often, Consistently, Lovingly, and from an Early Age. Just like children recognize the Voice of their Mother early, we Recognize the Voice of our Lord.
And the More we Stop to Listen, the more Familiar the Voice Becomes, so that we Recognize It Easier.
And, just as in any conversation, the More We Talk…..the Less We Listen…or Learn….the More We Listen, the More He Gets to Talk…and the More We Learn.

By the way…In Your Prayers……{Conversation with the Lord}….Have You Been Dominating the Conversation? Something to Think About.

10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

This is really Cool Too.
The devil should be a stranger to us….So we Should Not recognize his voice…and If we do Not Know his Voice, Why should we follow him?

Know Whose Voice You Are Following.

The Jabez Prayer

The Jabez Prayer

Reading this morning in 1 Chronicles

Going through all of the Begets…..
Skimming for names I recognize…and so forth..

It is so interesting that right in the middle of all this,
One of our most popular prayers is versed.

The Jabez Prayer…. Two little verses.
Entire Books have been written about these two simple verses.

1 Chronicles 4: 9-10
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!”
So God granted him what he requested.

I love to pray the Jabez prayer…..and I love to Make It My Own.

“Oh Lord, that You would Bless me, not just a little bit, but indeed, a lot.
And Enlarge my Territory….Grow my Business, Bring Me More Clients.
And Enlarge my Territory for You…My Witness for You. Place people in my path that I May Witness of Your Salvation and Greatness.

And that Your Hand Will Be With Me. that You Will Build A Hedge of Protection Around Me.
I Pray Oh Lord, that You Walk Before Me, Opening Doors… That No Man Can Open…. And Lord, Walk Beside Me, Steady My Walk, Pick Me Up When I Fall, Guide Me to the Right or to the Left.
And Lord, that Walk Behind Me….Closing Doors that Need to Be Closed…Doors that I Don’t Know Need To Be Closed….or Maybe Don’t Have the Courage to Close.
And that You Will Keep Me From Evil. Evil not only Displeases You and Grieves Your Spirit, but it hurts me and in turn, I hurt others.
And Most of All, Evil…Sin…Separates Me From You.

In Christ Name I Pray.

Ever wonder why we pray In Christ Name?
Perhaps we can talk about that tomorrow.

Do Not Let God's Blessings Make You Prideful

We Must Be Careful Not To Let The Blessings Of God Make Us Proud

Reading in 2 Kings
Hezekiah was a good King. He did what was right in the site of the Lord

2 Kings 18:3
Yesterday in the Bible Blog, I noted how Hezekiah took things to God in prayer and God answered in positive ways.

Now today, Hezekiah is sick and about to die.

He sends for the prophet Isaiah. When Isaiah tells him he is going to die…

2 Kings 20:1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: “Set your house in order for you shall die, and not live.”

As before, Hezekiah took his condition before the Lord

2 Kings 20: 2-6
Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your site.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

{Just thinking, have we lived such a life before the Lord that we could remind Him how faithful we have lived?}

And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the work of the Lord came to him, saying,

{Notice how quickly God answered Hezekiah’s prayer}

“Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

{ Not only did God heal him, He added 15 years to his life, and promised to deliver him from the king of Assyria. Also notice that God did it because of Hezekiah’s obedience and for God’s Own Sake.}

“And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.”

So Far….So Good

Now that Hezekiah has had so many promises and blessings from the Lord, I suspect he began to take things for granted.

He got a little arrogant and proud.

So when the king of Babylon came to see Hezekiah { to check him out}
What did Hezekiah do? He proudly showed off all of his possessions

No Mention Of The Lord Here.

Pride goes before a fall.

2 Kings 20 13. Hezekiah was attentive to them and showed then all the house of his treasures- the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armory- all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord: “Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon” nothing shall be left”, says the Lord
And they shall take away some of your sons who will descend from you, whom you will beget; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
So Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “ The Word of the Lord which you have spoken is good!’ For he said “Will there not be peace and truth at least in my days?’

Now it seems that Hezekiah is only interested in his own welfare. what will happen in his days…not the consequences that his sons will pay for his pride.

Wow….. We Can Not take for granted the Blessings of God.

And We Must Always Give God the Glory For Them.

This is one way we can witness to people….letting them know …that God takes care of His Own.

Deut. 8:18
“Remember the Lord….for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.”

God Protects And Provides For His Own

My Bible study this morning was in 2 Kings,

From each study, I like to pick out certain verses that really speak to my heart.

2Kings, 17:39 “But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”

There are many words in this verse that people could pick out; like God...…Deliver.......Enemies

Two small words struck me.
{and}……..the Lord your God you shall fear {and} meaning, If we fear Him, He will Deliver. {because } we fear Him, He will deliver.
When we put God first, He puts us first.

Remember, if we want God to come closer to us, we must come closer to Him.

The other word {fear} having an awesome respect for. Not meaning to be afraid of. Putting God First in our Hearths and Lives.

2 Kings 19: 14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord

I wonder….what is the first thing we do when we get bad news. Fret, Get Discouraged????? Have a pity Party????

Hezekiah read… and took his papers to the Lord…. and Spread them out…….and he Prayed.

Have we ever spread out our Bills before the Lord and Prayed?
Remember, all we have belongs to the Lord…so our problems are His problems.

Personal Testimony:
I remember once when my air conditioner in the shop quit working.
I threw my hands up to the Lord and looked up to Him, and said….
“Lord, Your air conditioner quit”

I called the man to come and fix it.
I prayed to the Lord….that it would not be expensive.
The man came and climbed up on my roof….stayed for a little while…
Came back down and said. I turned it back on…..it is working…..I do not find anything wrong.

I shared with him what I had done.
My witness to God’s provision.

Well, now the Lord’s rent is due.

That is His too.

Will let you know How He Provides.

2 Kings 19: 20 “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Because you have prayed to Me {against Sennacherib, King of Assyria,} I have heard”

Do You Know Who You Are?

I recently posted this on my Facebook page.

So What If People Say "Just Who Does She Think She Is."

I Know Who I Am.
I Am A Child Of The MOST HIGH KING.
And I do believe "That Makes Me A Princess"
Well, I am only 2 weeks into my committment to do my new tithe.

So far, what I have done......I am taking out what I have promised the Lord.
And I am expecting Him to supply the money for bills.

That is giving Him my FirstFruits.

Would you not rather have 90% plus God rather than 100% minus God?

I keep telling myself that He Will Supply All Of My Needs According To HIS Riches In Christ Jesus.

Now of course He has Already Supplied our Needs {Salvation} through Christ Jesus.

I had a discussion the other day with a family member. She said she had written checks before, to the Lord [With Money She Did NOt have } and expected the Lord to supply it.
And the checks bounced. But I feel this is expecting God to Supply His own Tithe.....rather than sowing it ourself out of our blessings from Him.

The devil attacts me every hour, telling me I can not do this.

But the Big Question is......How Can We Trust God For Something As Important As Our Salvation.....And Then Not Trust Him For Our Daily Needs.

I noticed someting interesting on my Microsoft Word.
It kept trying to get me to cvapotalize the word satan or devil.

I won't give him that recognizition.
